We love fairytales but we love it even more when it all goes wrong like when Prince Charming becomes the scheming guy who just wants to be in power. That's the appeal of the Shrek series and crowds flock to the theatres every time to get all their fairytale beliefs all twisted up and having a good laugh at it.

Moving on from where Shrek 2 left off, King Harold of Far Far Away, who had been turn into a frog, is dying and Shrek is first in line as the next heir to the kingdom. Not one to give up his beloved swamp, Shrek recruits his friends Donkey and Puss in Boots to search for the second-in-heir, the rebellious Artie as the new king. In the meantime, Princess Fiona, is caught up with battling the jilted Prince Charming and rallies a band of royal girlfriends to fend him off.

Unfortunately this installment is disappointing in its plot and most of the lines and story are predictable so it is no longer a surprise anymore to the viewers. However, do watch out for stellar casting of famous voices and try to match them to the animated characters like Julie Andrews, John Cleese, Rupert Everett and of course Justin Timberlake. The side-kicks of Shrek are a funny bunch too like Gingerbread Man, Pinocchio and the Three Little Pigs and also additional little ones that will drive the girls goo-goo and gaa-gaa. A must-watch for Shrek fans but not necessary in the theatres. Grab the DVDs for extra features to make it worthwhile.
